I hope this is good news… Hopefully, Vox and LuxGSM will be competing to provide the best service to their customers. I have not been impressed with the quality of the Vox network here in .

version 2.0 is out but still only available in very few countries :-(

Just received the news. Vox will have a launch party going on at their shop in City.

140 iPhones up for grabs. So youngsters, line up tonight if you want to be one of the first. No word on the data plan matrix yet, but I hope for Vox that it will be an attractive one. Otherwise I will stay on the fence for the time being, as I’m not a client.

From their e-mail:

140 additional iPhone3G’s are in stock !
In addition to the ones we blocked for the first 10 people, we have an extra stock of 140 phones that can be purchased during our launch party. As the demand is very high, we suggest you to be there on time to be sure to buy one on that evening.

Where and When ?
We welcome you as of 4 pm at our VOX shop in City, 1-5 rue Marché-aux-Herbes. Doors will be open from 6.00 pm til 9.00 pm.

Please bring your identity card and bank details with you.

We wish you a lot of fun during our launch party!

Vox has a page (very much like the one Mobistar had before launch). Vox’s iPhone site. There is a link from the front page.
No word on whether only Vox will be offering the , nor on the data plans… Exciting!

Steve Jobs and his team presented the latest in the saga today. As expected, the device is improving and becoming increasingly available across the planet.

Quite a few will see the phone on 11 July, among them are most of the remaining big markets like Italy, Spain and Japan. Coming soon are countries like Malta, Liechtenstein and … the Ivory Coast!! You would have thought that would be at least among the “coming soon” countries. Especially now, where all the neighbouring countries (Germany, France and Belgium) have or will have it.

The market might be insignificant, but compared to Malta, Liechtenstein or the Ivory Coast, it should be more interesting to strike a deal with the providers in !

The keynote of WWDC on 9 June is approaching rapidly and Steve will be doing it himself. This indicates that more than just standard news will be announced.

As for the , we are seeing announcements from several providers that they are going to offer the is this and that and these countries “some time this year”. Whether or not this will be a 3G version, with or without GPS etc. is still unclear. This will undoubtedly be much clearer after Steve’s keynote on the 9th.

As no news have been announced regarding , I fear that won’t have an “official” provider in the near future… All the neighbouring countries (Germany (O2), France (Orange) and Belgium (Mobistar as part of Orange) have or will have it this year. It doesn’t make sense that is not included this time around. Are LuxGSM, Vox and Tango to cheese-paring to pay the price asked by ?

Gilles and his team opened the new Computerhome store opposite the cash in Belle Étoile, Bertrange today. The store is small but well organised. Full line of products are available and the all the Macintosh computers are on display for a hands-on experience. Go have a look and tell Gilles that I sent you :-)

I went to the James Blunt concert in Rockhal, Esch, yesterday. It was excellent. I enjoyed listening to his songs live. It is always a different experience!

Definitely recommended!
